American Red Cross Positions Available in New Mexico
Emergency Services / Disaster Services Locations: State-wide
Description of Disaster Action Team: Each Disaster Action Team will consist of several volunteers and is organized to place trained responders at the scene of a disaster within minutes of its occurrence. These teams usually include a captain, a trained member, and a trainee. As a Disaster Action Team member, you may over time work with victims of various disasters such as house fires, floods, tornadoes, forest fires, hurricanes, severe storms, and hazardous material incidents. DAT teams provide immediate emergency assistance to disaster victims and emergency workers. DAT members are trained to provide food, clothing, toiletries, and shelter through limited financial assistance. In major disasters, however, the DAT initiates the response and establishes the operation until other chapter and national resources become available. As a DAT volunteer, you are part of the first team responding to the disaster scene. When disaster strikes, you will be where the action is to deliver the mission of the Red Cross to our community.

The caseworker has a very flexible schedule and can conduct the follow ups after normal business hours. Training will be provided |

Government liaisons provide a valuable resource to the American Red Cross prior to and during disaster relief operations. The government liaison will work with our city, county, state and tribal partners to align response plans and disaster relief activities. These volunteers should have prior experience working with government entities, understand the incident command structure and be willing to support government relationships before and during disaster response activities. The liaison position is needed throughout New Mexico and volunteers with the experience and/or knowledge are encouraged to fill this need. |
